Change begins from within. As easy as it is to look outside of ourselves and want the world to change, the truth is, it never will if we remain the same.
This podcast was created for changemakers like you who want more love and connection in your community. Today, you are going to hear stories that will inspire you and also challenge you to be the change. We are going to go deep, my friend. So, take a deep breath and settle in.
My name is Ame-lia Tamburrini. Welcome to the Circle of Change.
Hi, friend. It’s good to be with you as we post out our fall season of Circle of Change.
As time has gone on, me and the team have been searching for a rhythm in this work and we’ve landed on seasons - summer, fall, winter, and spring. It aligns with the journey our mind, our body, our spirit is on as well as the world around us and it feels really good.
From a practical perspective, what that means is that we’re going to be recording and producing podcast for two months each season and then, taking one month off. In that rest month, we’ll be reviewing the episodes, recording, planning new shows, and re-energizing for what’s to come.
The winter season coming up is an exciting one. So far, we’ve got circles with some amazing women; two gals, who are changing the world through improv comedy and play and, three women, who are using family systems to heal the ancestral wounds among us. These episodes are going to bring love, light, insight, and lots for you to ponder.
As we begin, I want to settle in with a poem. This poem comes from Rumi, one of my favorite poets. And I was reminded of him today on a call with a friend and she shared with me one of his other more well-known poems. But, this one spoke to me when I opened his book. I have The Big Red Book of Rumi’s, also, gifted to me by a friend.
So, but I usually take a deep breath and settle into the space to this moment and get really present with your body. We are the sun. We are warm spell that comes in a relentless winter. We are the sun with all the different kinds of light. We are wind. Doves, when they call coo, where, are looking for us. Nightingales and parrots change their purchase hoping to be nearer to us.
The word of us reach the fish. They swerve and let waves from that stirring keep coming in. The soul has been given its own ears to hear things that the mind does not understand.
In the Great Spirit world, Mohammad’s name is called with his four friends - Abubakkar, Umar, Usman, and Ali. Those are our names too. We have come out of slavery with veils of sugarcane. No need to mention Egypt. The sweetness of how we talk together is what we crush and bring the world.
Thank you, Rumi, for your brilliance and your deep connection and sharing that with us through your words.
To close out this season, I have an exciting gift to announce. I just hosted a communication masterclass that had a tremendous turnout. What I was left with was this feeling of joy myself, but also from the people who showed up.
As people were signing off, I could see their happiness. And I was really taken by that, because we just spent an hour of going deep. And they challenged themselves to really think about what they want to contribute to the world and how each and every communication they participate in can add to that.
[0:04:58] We talked about setting an intention and tools to stay present and supported on our journey of being the change. It was so powerful. Because I know that you are also committed to being the change, we’re going to gift you the recording of the masterclass.
Yes! [laughs] I’m so excited to share what we talked about with you because I learned from people how much of a difference it has made for them. We’re entering into the holidays and communication breakouts are rampant at this time of year.
We overstuff ourselves with food and commercialism and visits and often our regular self-care practices that really keep us on even keel go out the window. This masterclass was designed to help you build the foundation to walk into any conversation with ease and grace.
It’s definitely going to make you think. It’s going to remind you of what’s really important. And also give you some tools to make sure that you feel supported.
Part of that is a connecting conversation planner that we designed specifically for this masterclass. We’re also gifting you that. You can take it and apply it, use it for any conversation that you are walking into. This is giving you a bit of dizzies. So, there is our early holiday gift to you.
As you enter into this season, one that might feel very challenging for you, remember, you live on a planet that is spiraling around the sun in a galaxy that is beyond fathomable. It’s a miracle that we are here. It’s a miracle that this whole ecosystem works in tandem to keep us and everything else alive.
It’s a miracle that our bodies and our planet heals. It’s a miracle that we have water falling from the sky and that we can feel sadness, happiness, joy, grief.
Isn’t it amazing that we can feel all of these things? Other animals don’t get to participate in that. And I know we begrudge it a lot, we complain about it a lot, we get scared of these feelings a lot, but they’re amazing.
Einstein said that you can live your life in two ways. One as though nothing was a miracle and the other as though everything is. And I choose the latter. So, please, I invite you to take a moment to celebrate the miracles in your life this holiday season.
Your bed, the shelter over your head, the food you eat, the snow, the smile you get from a stranger, the stars that you can see, the email that you receive, the sensation you feel when you’re angry or glad. It’s all a miracle.
As we close out this year and this fall season, I have some gratitude in my heart I want to express. Because we are making some changes here at Hum Consulting, I want to say how grateful I am for my executive assistant, Sarah.
Sarah, without you this podcast would not be what it is today. We wouldn’t have the Be The Change video series. I wouldn’t have launched the communication masterclass. And my belief in myself and what I am here to offer would not be as strong. Because of you, I was able to step out and played bigger and reached more people. Having you by my side has been an absolute miracle and a blessing. Thank you so, so much.
And to you the listener here with me today, thank you for being here in the circle supporting this heart and spirit-led project of mine and for being courageous enough to listen and learn about yourself. I love knowing that you’re here and we’re connecting in some way.
Please don’t forget to click on the link in the show notes and grab the free recording of the communication masterclass and the connecting conversation planner.
I’m wishing you a holiday season full of miracles and joy. I’ll see you in 2022. Ciao.
I’m now passing the talking piece to you. [Music]
